An Honest Account of How He Built It
In 2003, Dr. Yakub Bhetasiwala boarded a flight to Singapore during a SARS epidemic with no money of his own and a borrowed credit card. He came back with a collaboration with a Japanese manufacturer that has endured for more than two decades. His company — Sharon Controls India Pvt. Ltd. — is today financially debt-free, operationally mature, and expanding internationally with offices across India and a Singapore entity incorporated in 2022.
This book is his honest account of how he built it.

Dr. Yakub Bhetasiwala is the Founder and Managing Director of Sharon Controls India Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s leading industrial automation companies. Founded in 2003 from a home office in Kalyan, Maharashtra, Sharon Controls has grown over two decades into a professionally managed, debt-free enterprise with offices in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Ahmedabad — serving customers across automotive, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel, machine tools, and factory automation sectors.
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Rushford Business School, Switzerland, completed with Distinction. He also holds an MBA in Finance, and his engineering background forms the technical foundation of everything he has built.
Beyond business, Dr. Bhetasiwala has dedicated himself to community service through Rotary International. As President of Rotary Club in 2017-18, he has served as Assistant Governor and in multiple leadership roles at District 3142. He lives and works in Kalyan, Maharashtra, India.
